Installing LinkBox on macOS

A step-by-step guide for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, including how to allow the app past Gatekeeper.

Gatekeeper will warn you — this is expected

LinkBox is not yet signed with an Apple Developer certificate. macOS Gatekeeper blocks unsigned apps by default. The app is completely safe — Step 5 below shows exactly how to allow it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why does macOS block LinkBox?

macOS Gatekeeper blocks apps that aren't notarized or signed with an Apple Developer certificate. LinkBox doesn't yet have one. The software is safe and published directly by TiloBox.

Which build should I download — arm64 or x64?

If your Mac has an Apple Silicon chip (M1, M2, M3, M4), download the arm64 build. If you have an older Intel Mac, download the x64 build. Check: Apple menu → About This Mac. If you see "Apple M" it's Apple Silicon.

Why can't I just double-click to open it?

Double-clicking a blocked app shows a non-actionable dialog. You need to go through System Settings → Privacy & Security to see the 'Open Anyway' button.

Will LinkBox work on macOS Ventura, Sonoma, or Sequoia?

Yes. LinkBox supports macOS 11 Big Sur and later, including all recent releases. The Gatekeeper bypass steps are the same across all versions.

Can I verify the download before installing?

Yes — checksums are published with each release so you can compare the hash of your download before installing it.
